The Rocky Mountaineer: Built more than a century ago, its tracks once opened up the Canadian West, and they cross through some of the world's most accident ridden terrain. Today, this same historical railway now has a reputation for being one of the world's most spectacular journeys.
The
tracks cross a legendary land, still natural and wild, a countryside abundant in wildlife living in full view of majestic snow-covered peaks, sparkling glacial lakes, spectacular waterfalls and gigantic trees.
or
the second time, in October 1998 the Rocky Mountaineer was listed in the International Railway Traveler among the world's twenty best railway excursions. With two-day excursions available from May to
mid-October, you can travel on the Rocky Mountaineer in an eastern direction beginning at Vancouver or towards the west from Banff, Calgary and Jasper. Midway, travelers stop for a stay in Kamloops hotels.
The Canadian: This excursion provided by Via Rail connects Toronto to Vancouver. On a journey taking three days and three nights, the Canadian travels along the lakes and the forests of Ontario, goes on to cross the Prairies and the Rockies, and making its final stop on the Pacific coast. The train's schedule is arranged so that the passengers are able to admire the Rockies during the day.
Via
Rail provides other panoramic excursions in the West. The Skeena, (also used by BC Rail, see above) goes for a distance of 1160 kilometers, providing two days of spectacular viewing from Jasper to Prince
Rupert, via Prince George, where the train stops for the night. The train crosses fabulous landscapes, taking passengers to Mount Robson (the highest point in the Rockies), before going back down to the
Pacific coast.
The Pacific Peaks and Panoramas: the most famous and popular of the excursions offered by BC Rail (British Columbia Rail). It leaves from Vancouver and then crosses the most spectacular of mountains and plateaus in North America, going to Prince George and Prince Rupert. The return trip can be made by sea on the Queen of the North, that goes through the famous Inside Passage. Visits to the famous Butchart Gardens are included in the package price. The excursion includes 6 days and 5 nights of outstanding comfort.
BC
Rail provides many other packages that allow you to take advantage of Cariboo region's immense beauty, with a great number activities included (golf, canoeing, horseback riding, tennis, swimming, cycling, visits,
