A Tourist Excursion:

in Europe

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express: The world's most famous train owes its rebirth to James B Sherwood, an American businessman and trains enthusiast who lives in London and is president of the Orient-Express Hotels Inc group.  When the Orient-Express ceased activities in 1977, Mr. Sherwood saved it from becoming nothing but a memory by buying two of its sleeping cars at a Sotheby auction sale.  He had them restored, and then in the next few years bought and restored other cars. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express came into being in 1982, allowing for a rediscovery of the luxury, ostentation and glorious days of the Orient-Express.  Indeed, beginning with its inauguration in 1883 and for a period of nearly sixty years, the Orient-Express had been a place where princes, concert stars and great personalities from around the world were to travel across Europe in style, experiencing comfort and luxury unequaled by no other means of transport.

Travelling in private compartments, for the entire trip passengers are attended to by stewards and are assured a most attentive and discrete service.  Each compartment has a private washroom and at nightfall it fully converts into a comfortable bedroom.  Meals may be been served in the compartment or in the dining car.  There is also a bar with lounge room.

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express offers a large variety of European routes:  London – Paris – Venice;  Venice – Florence – Rome;  Venice – Prague – Paris – London;  Venice – Lucerne – Paris – London;  Paris – Budapest – Bucharest – Istanbul.

These cars, with their famous coats of arms plus the sumptuous cooking, luxurious decoration and service, can be compared to no other. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is thus ideal for that special celebration or elegant and original holiday.

The Royal Scotsman: This luxury train combines the splendor of the Victorian era with modern comforts, while you admire Scotland's really fascinating landscapes. For your comfort, the train stops at night.  You can visit private houses, castles and historical points of interest.  Available routes allow you to travel cross Scotland in three to five days.
